Rep. Vic Mitchell Appointed to the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee

House Republican Leader Mike May, R-Parker, has appointed State Rep. Vic Mitchell, R-Castle Rock, to serve on the influential House Business Affairs and Labor Committee.

"Vic Mitchell will be a responsible and excellent steward of our citizens' hard-earned taxpayer dollars and a watchdog to protect the interests of Coloradans in the business community, both employers and employees," May said. "Vic brings over 20 years of successful business experience and entrepreneurship to the legislature.  I have no doubt that Vic will be a valuable addition to the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee."
"With this committee assignment comes a great deal of responsibility," Representative Mitchell said. "When we talk about the business affairs and labor communities, we are talking about the majority of Colorado’s citizens.  The high quality of life we all enjoy living in Colorado begins with employment opportunities for each citizen of working age.”

In addition, Rep. Mitchell will be carrying important and good governance legislation this upcoming session including bills that will:

  • Provide in-state college tuition rates for all Colorado High School graduates who are legal citizens
  • Improve public education accountability by requiring that all of Colorado’s kids must be proficient in English before they can graduate
  • Improve public safety at our public high schools and colleges
  • Extend the existing Alzheimer’s Tax Check off credit to assist Alzheimer’s patients
  • Provide any homeowner who has paid off his mortgage a copy of their released deed of trust.

Mitchell additionally serves as a member of the Legislative Audit Committee.  Vic previously served on the House Education and Finance Committees.

Vic received his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University’s business school and his Masters Degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
